Yvonn Scanagatta

September 17, 1936 — December 13, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved, Yvonné (Miller) Scanagatta on December 13th, 2021 at 8:02PM. She was born on September 17th, 1936 in Pitkin, Louisiana to the late Herman Eugene Miller & Selma Sue (Parker) Miller.

Yvonné Scanagatta graduated from DeRidder High School Class of 1954. She married the love of her life, Frederick Charles Scanagatta, on April 15th, 1973. They were happily married for 48 years at the time of her passing. Their love evident, with the smile that emulated from her radiantly blue eyes each time he entered the room.

Yvonné was deeply loved by those who were touched by her southern grace and hospitality. Always graciously kind, her loving heart was felt with each warm welcome and delicious meal she served. Yvonné was a woman ahead of her time; her strength and sophistication was widely admired by those young and old. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always and forever be treasured and missed; her legacy being those she leaves behind to keep her memory alive with each story told or recipe for Pecan Pie shared. “Ma”, “Grandmom,” or “Yiayia Yavo”, inspired us all to live life with a sense of humor and spunk, one Judge Judy episode at a time!

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved brothers, Lt. Col. Curtis Parker Miller, US Army (Retired) and Lt. Col. Rodney Lee Miller, US Air Force (Retired).

Left to treasure her beloved memory is her loving husband, Frederick Charles Scanagatta; daughters, April (& Jeff) Robinson, Kenya (& Stephen) Van Leuven, Leslie (& Mel) Scanagatta, and sons, Roman (& Eleni) Scanagatta, John (& Deanna) Scanagatta; grandchildren, Shelby, Stephanie, Trevor, Danielle, Wyatt, Mollie, Marina, Valentina and Jessica; great-grandchildren, great-great grandchild, niece, nephew and treasured sister-in-law, Deborah Vick May of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Scanagatta family wishes to thank Hospice of Petaluma and Wine Country Senior Living, specifically Pam, Carla, Leslie and Cora for their gentle touch, compassionate care and loving kindness shown to our mother each and every day. You made Wine Country home for nine months. Our heartfelt gratitude to those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes and continued prayers; there are no words to express how much your love and support meant to us.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be made to the Sonoma County Humane Society and Hospice of Petaluma.
