Zev Gerson Cywan - Zev Gerson Cywan passed away on January 17, 2011 at the age of 71 in Oro
Valley, Arizona. Born in San Francisco on July 11, 1939, he was raised with
three sisters in Petaluma, graduating from Petaluma High School in 1956.
After attending college at UC Berkeley, he lived in San Francisco and the
Bay Area, working mainly in the furniture industry, until moving to North
Carolina in 1989. Upon retirement in 2005, he and his wife, Marilyn, moved
to Oro Valley, Arizona. He was a talented musician from a very young age. He played mostly piano, but also sang, played violin and other instruments, and composed and arranged music. In Oro Valley he found his niche in local politics.
Zev is survived by Marilyn, his loving and cherished wife of 27 years;
stepdaughters Dana Goduto (John) of Tucson, Arizona and Julie Levitch
(Randy) of Scottsdale, Arizona; his sisters Esther Herman (Eugene) of Takoma Park, Maryland, Naomi Freedman (Alan) of Annapolis, Maryland, and Miriam Cywan Feuer of Petaluma, California; step-grandchildren Rex and Judd Levitch; sister-in-law Dawn Richard (Jim); and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
