Anne Elizabeth Brennan, of Petaluma, CA, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born on May 31, 1948, in Carrick, County Donegal, Ireland to parents Peter and Margaret McGinley. She grew up surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful countryside of Ireland, including her sister, Maura Fitzgerald, and brothers Patrick, Peter, Sean, Enda and Kevin. At the age of 18, Anne set out for adventures beyond Ireland, moved to England, then traveled Europe with a dear cousin and friend. In 1972, she relocated to Philadelphia, PA to live with her sister, Maura, and start a new life in America. It was there she met her beloved husband, Michael Gerard Brennan (Mike). Always on the move, they relocated to Florida and then headed west to San Francisco in 1973. Here, she found a wonderful support network of friends who became like family. They were married in Philadelphia, PA on September 27, 1975. In 1978, they settled down in Petaluma where they lovingly raised their four children. Anne worked as an admitting clerk at Petaluma Valley Hospital for 22 years and was a welcome face for anyone who came through her door.
She was an excellent knitter, avid reader, and enjoyed cooking. She loved her daily walks and coffee break stops, traveling home to Ireland, and many wonderful vacations with friends and family over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and was often seen spoiling them with love and affection. Anne is survived by her husband of 48 years; Michael Brennan. She will be greatly missed by her son; Michael Brennan (Mikey), daughters; Siobhan (Ben) Evans, Jennifer Brennan and Fiona (Mace) Hughes, grandchildren; Audrey, Declan, and Kiera Evans, Brennan and Emilia Hughes, Frances Brennan (Frankie), and Liam Perkins, and many other family and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Margaret McGinley, her sister Margaret Philomena, and her brother, Kevin.
Funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 2nd at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty Street in Petaluma, CA at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society or National Down Syndrome Society.
