Gene Dale Ova

Gene was born on April 18, 1929 in Arthide, Minnesota to Adolph and Myrtle Ova.

Gene married Ann Johnson on January 19, 1957. They just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in January. Gene served in the Air Force from 1950 to December 11, 1954. After his discharge from the Air Force Gene moved out to California to be with his parents. He worked as a firefighter at Oxnard Air Force Base until the base closed. In 1970 at which time he moved the family to Petaluma, California and he went to work at Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato. When Hamilton Air Force base closed he transferred to the Presidio in San Francisco where he worked until his retirement in 1981. After retirement Gene enjoyed playing golf with his friends and enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. He and Ann Belonged to the Bay Area Camper group that took them on a lot of campouts and road trips with good friends. Good times were had by all.  Every year they would travel with their RV to Quartzsite, Arizona with several other couples and stay for a month. They enjoyed the flea markets and traveling around to different areas.

Gene is survived by his wife Ann, daughter Arla (Lonnie) Dexter, daughter Sheryl Welter and son Dale (Jennifer) Ova. Also survived by a brother Gordon (Lois) Ova In Minnesota. He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be held at Hillside Church of The Nazarene; 2689 Adobe Road, Petaluma, California on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:30 AM.
