George Kardum Jr.
October 1938 to September 2023
George was a San Francisco Native, born to George Kardum Sr. and Martha Kardum, (both deceased). Most of us know him as Butch, aka Renaissance Man, The Father of the Colorist Movement (San Francisco Painted Ladies), Self-Educated, Artist, Horticulturist, Day Trader, revered Father, Friend and Mentor. He departed this world peacefully at home surrounded by Family and Love. He loved life to the very end and his mind remained as sharp as his wit. Butch’s wife Karen, passed in 2010, he is survived by his Children, Gary (Jacki) and Victoria (Steve). His granddaughter Brooke (Mario), his brothers, Peter (Carol decd.), Stephen (Kathy)his Sister Patricia Culjak (decd.), and many many other family members.
Butch and his wife Karen were active members of the SF Mission Planning Counsel, instrumental in having Juri Street Mini Park constructed on City property and responsible for planting many street trees throughout San Francisco. He is greatly missed! Butch was one of the Greatest Human beings for those lucky to know him. Butch gave his all, to family, to friends, to life. He was the most open human being, heart and mind. He never judged, he always teased, he provoked thought and conversation, as a budding horticulturist he created a garden like no other whilst day trading on the Stock Market, he loved writing sonnets, travel, books, lunch with friends and nephews, he was always supportive in amazing ways, as only he could be and he LOVED his family.
