James Singleton Obituary

James Marvin (Jim) Singleton peacefully passed away at the age of 81 on October 1, 2023 at his home in Sebastopol, CA. He was born on March 2, 1942, in Arkansas City, KS and was the eldest son of George Wesley and Nell Lillian Singleton. After graduation from Shidler High School, he went on to obtain a Business Degree from Oklahoma State University.

Jim is preceeded in death by his wife Maureen and daughter Lynette. He is survived by his Daughter Jamie Morrisseau, son-in-law Robert, grandchildren Jack & Alice Morrisseau, and his former wife Metha Singleton. Also survived by his brother George David Singleton, sisters  Mary Susan Jones of Claremore, & Jo Nell Hardison (Michael) of Chelsea and all their families.

After leaving college he moved and worked at a number of locations including Sugarland, TX, and Manvil, TX. Jim later moved to El Paso, TX in 1986 where he lived and worked for over 30 years as a successful executive in the truck stop business. During that time he met & married his second wife Maureen Ponce Surratt. They were married on February 20, 2009.  They enjoyed ten more years of life together spending time traveling and being in the company of friends and family. They moved to Tulsa to be closer to family in 2015. After Maureen passed away, Jim moved to Sebastopol, CA to spend his last year with his daughter and her family. This time was spent enjoying many evenings of good food and wine together. 

Jim will be remembered as a kind and caring person to all that knew him - always a gentleman.
