Lloyd J. Withers, Jr.

Our cherished Lloyd passed away peacefully at home on September 06, 2023 in Petaluma. Lloyd was born on December 13, 1952 to Lloyd Sr. and Mary Jean Withers in Syracuse, New York.  Lloyd served Ross Valley School District starting in 1983 until his retirement as Director of Maintenance and Facilities in 2000.  

Lloyd met the love of his life and soulmate, Sandra Compagno, in 1985. Lloyd and Sandra were married in 1994.  Sandra preceded Lloyd in death in February 2018. Lloyd was a proud father to Nicole (Brian) Brown and grandfather to Sophia Anderson.

Lloyd was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to find true love for the second time when he met Margaret “Maggie” Murphy in December 2018.  Lloyd and Maggie, along with her daughters Nicole and Lauren Roger, have enjoyed many Murphy Family gatherings, numerous laughs and adventures in their time together.  Most recently they returned from a trip to Ireland to visit Maggie’s eldest daughter, and France to attend a family member’s wedding.   

Lloyd was quick with his wit and had a sharp sense of humor.  When he wasn’t tending to his beautiful garden oasis, he could be found on the local links with his beloved golf buddies or whipping up delicious masterpieces in the kitchen.  He loved the outdoors, nature, and spending time with his dear friends and family.  

Lloyd is preceded in death by his older brothers Terry and Chuck.  He is survived by his daughter Nicole Brown (Brian), granddaughter Sophia Anderson, and brother Robert Withers, and many friends. Donations may be made in his name to ForWords in San Rafael or Drawbridge in San Rafael.

A private entombment will be held on September 14th. Friends and family are invited on Thursday, September 14th at 2:00pm to attend Lloyd’s remembrance celebration at Brewster’s Beer Garden:  229 Water Street, Petaluma, CA.  Golf attire is encouraged.
