Lynn Imm

February 19, 1946 — August 9, 2024

Petaluma, California

Lynn passed away on August 9, 2024, after a long and very difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. For all of us who knew and loved her the world got less joyful.

Lynn grew up a bit of a tomboy. As a daredevil on her bicycle she earned a trip to the hospital with a concussion to prove it. She rode horses and competed in rodeos with her friend Babs Brody. On rare occasions her father Colin would take her duck hunting. I don’t think that she fired a single shot but she loved sitting in the blind with her dad.

In Junior High School Lynn blossomed into a beautiful young woman who wanted nothing more than to see her many friends happy. If they were not happy she would do all she could to change that. Lynn was involved in Student Government and as a Song Leader for the sports teams and was the 1963 Homecoming Queen at Petaluma High School.

Shortly after school Lynn married her High School boyfriend, Gary Imm. They had two sons, Greg and Kevin. Lynn threw herself into being the best wife and mother that anyone could hope for. She was a volunteer room mom for the boys in Grammar School as well as a volunteer special events coordinator for the school.

When the boys hit high school Lynn was active in supporting Petaluma High’s sports programs. During this time Lynn’s husband was busy trying to help get a business going so was not always there to help. Lynn was the "Super Mom" who saw to it that her sons were raised and loved properly, and that her husband was granted the time he needed at his job.

When the boys had graduated from high school Lynn worked at a bank for some time, and then for Tom Baker at The Land Company as a bookkeeper. She then went to SRJC and learned computers and Graphic Design. This was the beginning of Lynn’s graphic design business. While there was some business at the beginning Lynn soon reverted to her giving ways and the business became all about free work for Petaluma’s many nonprofits.

She also added to her accomplishments by creating huge papier mache theme pieces for charity fundraisers such as a seven foot tall elephant. In her spare time Lynn served as a Board Member of several non-profits and Chaired both Petaluma Peoples Services Center and Petaluma Community Guild. In 2007 the City of Petaluma honored Lynn’s many years of devotion to the community by selecting her as Petaluma’s Volunteer of the Year.

Lynn’s Golden Years were just that. Two wonderful grandsons, Colin and Cade, with annual trips to Legoland .There were regular family trips to Hawaii and a river cruise down the Rhine River. Christmas was family time at the Imm’s with all of Lynn’s wonderful family gathering to laugh and play and enjoy our evening card games. Lynn was the heart of those gatherings and in many ways the heart of the family. We will never forget "Nana" and all of the joy and love that she brought to each of us.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Gary Imm; sons Gregory Imm and Kevin Imm (Carol); grandsons Colin Imm and Cade Imm; sister Barbara Holmes (Tim) and brothers Craig Holmes (Jim) and Mitchell Holmes (Jennifer); brothers in law Daryl Imm (Pat) and Mike Imm (Reyna); nieces and nephews Blaire Holmes, Ryan Holmes, Jamie Santero, Lara Lee Rubino, Kim Harris, and Tracy Imm.

A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Petaluma Golf and Country Club.
