Marilyn Jean Edmondson (French), of Petaluma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on December 17, 1931 in Des Moines, IA to the late Byron French and Hazel French (Samuelson).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lewis (Jim) Edmondson, and her brother Bernard French.
Marilyn was raised in Perry, Iowa. She meet her sweetheart, Lewis (Jim) Edmondson in elementary school, and they began dating in High School. She and Jim were married on February 3, 1952 in Perry, Iowa.
Marilyn and Jim lived in Kodiak AK, San Diego CA, and San Francisco CA due to Jim's Naval service in the 1950's. They moved to Pacifica CA, and Bowie MD when Jim started working for the U.S. Government. They finally settled down in Petaluma, California in 1973 where they continued to raise their 2 children.
Marilyn worked as a bank teller for Bank of America while living in San Francisco, and then worked for many years in the Old Adobe School district in Petaluma as a teacher's assistant. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, bird watching, and wine tasting.
She is survived by her two children Mark (Sandy) Edmondson and Jean (Shane) Manning; and her grandchildren Isabel, Ryan, Howard, Wyatt and Madelyn.
The immediate family will hold a private celebration of life. The family prefers memorials be made to Hospice of Petaluma or plant a tree in her memory.
